Investigations
Beyond the headlines. Document research, source verification, data analysis, and field reporting on issues of public interest.
Some stories can’t be told from a single press conference or press release. ANN Investigations pursues stories that require document research, records requests, data analysis, and months of source-building — work that takes longer to publish because it has to hold up.
What qualifies as an investigation
An ANN investigation surfaces information a subject did not want public, is built on original reporting rather than aggregation, and is reviewed by at least two editors and, where legal exposure is possible, outside counsel before publication. Every investigation discloses its methodology — how we obtained records, verified claims, and reached the subjects for comment — in the piece itself.
